The website of the Amsterdam University of the Arts uses cookies. These are small files that are sent with the pages of this website by your browser and are stored on your computer. Since June 2012 a new Telecommunications Act is in force in the Netherlands, obliging every Dutch website to inform visitors about the use of cookies and demanding permission for their use. The Amsterdam University of the Arts aims to satisfy this obligation.

Cookies on the AHK website

The website of the AHK uses the following cookies:

  • First-party cookies
    Just like over 80% of all websites worldwide we make use of Google Analytics to help improve our website for our visitors. The cookie stored on your computer for this is the only one set by the AHK itself.
  • Third-party cookies
    The AHK makes use of a number of external services to share information on our website. Content that is physically published on a different domain is in this case displayed on our website by means of 'embedding'. The external website may store a cookie on your computer.
  • Social media
    If you share a page from our website on a social media platform using one of the share buttons, the social network may store on a cookie on your computer.

Google Analytics

Through our website, a cookie is placed by the U.S. company Google, as part of the "Analytics" service. We use this service to track how visitors use our website. Google may transfer this information to third parties when Google is legally required to, or if third parties process the information on Google's behalf. The Amsterdam University of the Arts has no influence in this. We do not allow Google to use the information obtained for other Google services.

The information gathered by Google is anonymized as much as possible. Your IP address is not explicitly given. The information is stored by Google on servers in the United States. Google adheres to the Safe Harbor Principles, and is affiliated with the Safe Harbor program of the U.S. Department of Commerce. This means that there is an adequate level of protection for the processing of any personal data.

Third-party content

On a number of pages we use external services to display information. Content that is physically published on a different domain than ahk.nl is then displayed on our website by means of "embedding". The external service may store a cookie on your computer. This is often only the case after you activate the content from the external website, for example by starting a video.

Contents of the following websites are displayed within the AHK website: Facebook (facebook.com), Flickr (flickr.com) Issuu (issuu.com) Google Maps (maps.google.com), Soundcloud (soundcloud.com) , Vimeo (vimeo.com) and YouTube (youtube.com).

Social media

On almost every page of our website you will find a number of buttons that enable you to share content on various social networks. When clicking such a button, a cookie may be set on your computer. The AHK has no influence in this.

The information that the social networks collect is anonymised as much as possible. The information is stored on servers in the United States. Social networks like Facebook, Google+, Twitter and LinkedIn adhere to the Safe Harbor principles and are affiliated with the Safe Harbor program of the U.S. Department of Commerce.
